THE WAY THINGS GO
THE WAY THINGS GO is a choreographed chain of causes and effects. Treating the body as a combination of controlled will and factual mechanics, the dancers continually reinvent the circumstances to which they are subjected. Carefully positioning themselves in the line of fire, the precision of their contact reveals the fiction of the inevitable that lies beneath the seemingly self-evident course of events.
Collapsing, melting, pushing, holding, sliding, suspending, pulling, balancing, and falling, they blur the borders between activity and passivity.
Moving through an empty space with no front and no seats, the audience can follow the cluster of five dancers and be drawn into their constellation. As the performers’ actions and reactions diversify and the range of movement expands, the audience adapts: moving to avoid collision, coming closer to detect the details, or repositioning to see where the latest action is brewing.
