Announcing the conclusion of mentorship in Artistic Practice in Choreography.
Learn more about Julia B. Laperrière and her work HERE
The [LINK] mentorship takes place in the context Jefta van Dinther’s choreographic projects. With a focus on DISSEMINATION, [LINK] aims to connect a curious artist, as mentee, with a person within the artistic team (scenographer, sound designer, light designer, costume designer or choreographer) for the duration of a creative process of one production.
We would like to extend thanks to Julia and Elvan for their commitment to the [LINK] program and for their contributions to the studio throughout this year. They showed exemplary work during the format and we want to wish them well in their future choreographic work.
»The [LINK] program gave me the rare opportunity to dive into another choreographer’s process, from start to finish, seeing mentorship not as a vertical transfer of knowledge but being able to exchange horizontally and learn from each other’s perspectives, doubts, struggles and successes.« - Julia B. Laperrière

ABOUT THE CLASS
The class combines physical body work with awareness development practice. various improvisational patterns designed to enhance and fine-tune the synchronization of physical, mental and emotional awareness and the sensitivity of the Person. We are heightening our awareness of our own body and the space around it. We are learning how to use our mental and emotional present moment state as a starting point from which we can connect to our performance tasks. We are improving our ability to shift between different states .Through a series of guided improvisations we are training our ability to unite the mental, the physical and the emotional; being and doing; choreography and presence. The work is process-based. Its benefits and outcomes can be applied to any kind of dance or performance form or style.

[NODE] | Open studio at DIORAMA
Elvan Tekin and Julia B. Laperrière
____________________________________
Monday 30th September 15:00pm
Diorama
Hauptstraße 13, 10317 Berlin
DOOR F (near the bolder gym), 4th floor
*** The event is free and requires a registration. Please sign-up with the link in bio.
Diorama is pleased to host a showing of two works by Elvan Tekin and Julia B. Laperrière as part of their participation in the [LINK] mentorship program. The [NODE] format grants the artistic community, as well as other audiences, an opportunity to gain insight into the creative process of upcoming work and the possibility to engage in a feedback around the work.
Elvan Tekin presents “X Ê R” in collaboration with Saemi Jeong. “X Ê R” intertwines the shifting landscapes of voice, language, identity and the body. Voice becomes a fluid, politicised current that rebalances and reorients the existential and physical presence of the body. It moves through the spaces of spoken word, silence, loudness and the realms of being heard, silenced, understood - or the abyss of not being understood.
Julia B. Laperrière will share “an attempt at the Bolero…” Through the [LINK] residency, Julia has been searching for joy, literally, bodily, philosophically and emotionally. This research has taken place with accomplices, and one of its findings is that joy cannot happen alone. Finding herself accomplice-less for this [NODE], she decided to go for a new try-out.
After the showings we invite the audience for a short feedback session in the studio.

DOOR F (near the bolder gym), 4th floor
*** The event is free and requires a registration. Please sign-up in link in bio
Diorama is pleased to host the showing of work in progress from Juan Pablo Cámara @juanpablocamaraaa & Jessica Andrey Bogush @b0g6sh during their studio residency.
The [NODE] format grants the artistic community, as well as other audiences, an opportunity to gain insight into the creative process of upcoming work and the possibility to engage in a feedback around the work.
In his 2014 essay ‘Pornotopia’, spanish writer and philosopher Paul B. Preciado delves into the Playboy empire to examine popular culture and architecture as producers of pornographic technologies. Inspired by his research, Juan Pablo Cámara & Jessica Andrey Bogush devise a speculative choreography centered around a character engaged in a relationship of dominance and submission with its direct surroundings. Through movement, sound and text they explore architecture, domesticity and self-surveillance, questioning homosexual masculinity through the object-human relation.
After the showings we invite the audience for a short feedback session in the studio.

Where do we draw the line between experimentation and transgression? And what limits are we prepared to violate for our personal freedom, especially when the world as we know it can be difficult to trust. AUSLAND examines our urge and search for alternate realities, in a performance where human and non-human players are toying with themes intrinsic to our times. Digital touch, deep fakes, and machine attachment become presets of a labyrinth that is layered in humour and darkness.
In a series of new creations, working across the mediums of movement, song, film, gaming, and objects, Van Dinther examines a world which is overloaded with offers. The audience navigates freely through an immersive and durational installation. Departing from Van Dinther’s previous works, which tackle themes such as kinship, mortality and spirituality, this work plunges further into the dichotomies of fantasy; exposing how play can turn serious at any moment. AUSLAND depicts distinct yet interwoven microcosms characterised by self-destruction, voyeurism, and subversion, where emotional resilience and mental and moral clarity are challenged.

Diorama | Berlin
Studio Diorama opens up its doors as a coworking space on specific days throughout the year with [SITU] COWORKING. This time hosted by @julia.b.laperriere the the studio turns into a vibrant shared work space, where we welcome individual practitioners (not groups) within the field of performing arts to coexist in the same space and work in parallel, under a basic set of guidelines. We wish to specifically promote the use of the studio space for movement and dance research, and other forms of inhabiting the studio space.
In [SITU] COWORKING the physical space is in focus, rather than the virtual space; work on computers is allowed but not the main driver. We are especially curious about how artists can work on their own yet side by side, in an inspiring space, generating a collective aura of work-mode, concentration and respect for the others. There will be slots with music and slots in silence, and talking in the studio is kept to a minimum.
If you are interested to join, please read the guidelines and sign-up using the link in the bio or HERE: https://forms.gle/dmJuTsFRPgaCdpMAA
Sign-up is free and limited to a number of participants.

„It’s absolutely beautiful and I love it - instantly. Looking at the cast spread along the walls; wow - all so enigmatic in their mimicry, as a whiff and sensation of an army of Rick Owens-clad ”warriors” finds itself. They all carry a tune, they join in unison harmonies and deliver solo singing streaks that make you wonder where such versatile, gifted performers all were made. Unearth, suffice it to say almost immediately taps into the current collective psyche and zeitgeist of existenstial dread and guilt; seeing what we’re all seeing ”around” us - and with all of us wondering what we are even doing right - or - wrong, in this dystopian time era.
And there’s something wry and honest in recognizing that the individual grind, still as the grounds of society fall apart, needs to happen, and does, in our own bubbles. Unearth is smart that way; it plays on the feeling of a post-apocalyptic, post-war and post-pandemic/epidemic state of things; on a macro level, but manages to personalize the human condition too on a micro lens-level.“ — Ashik Zaman, CPrint

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP - “Exercising Joy”
At the beginning of every new project, I ask myself: What do we need right now, collectively? What do I need? What can dance do?
And so for this workshop, we will take interest in dance and joy as possible technologies for resistance and resilience. Cultivate the pleasure of moving and investigate how to create and produce energy in our bodies through movement. Through ongoing dancing, playfullness and sweat, we will search for ways we can collectively exercise our capacity for joy. We will seek it in the body, in the music and rythms, as well as experiment with somatic ways of generating it. Intertwined with the notion of pleasure, we will ask: how intimate is it to share pleasure, and what do we expect pleasure to look like?
For this workshop you can expect to sweat, smile, and get your body moviiin!
Bring comfortable shoes and water :)

“Van Dinther’s “Unearth” as a highlight at the donaufestival
Take space and time to dig very deeply: This happened in an impressive way with Jefta van Dinther’s performance „Unearth“ as part of the Krems Danube Festival. The Swedish choreographer made the Dominican Church a place populated by movement and sound at the weekend, which left an immense amount of closeness and showed affection, transience and farewell in a wide variety of constellations.“

Unearth | Donaufestival / Krems, AT
20.04 - 21.04 | 15:00 / 12:30
Austrian Premiere
Kinship and transience, revival and recovery of what has already vanished: the Dominican Church in the heart of Krems is perfect for the elegiac, three-and-a-halfhour performance Unearth. A celebration of becoming and fading away, the concentration and dissolution of movements, sounds and voices loud and silent, pregnant images that appear and slip away once again. Faced with the fleeting nature of human existence, the performers seek to fasten, to nail their bodies to the floor, while others desperately try to extract malignant ulcers from their sagging colleagues. Mouths form mantras, make contact with other mouths and other body parts.
After about 90 minutes, subtle shifts herald a second cycle in this durational choreography. Again, the entangled bodies approach close, perhaps too close – and open our eyes to the emptiness, to the alien within: life in Unearth is a song about death.

REMACHINE | DDD Festival @Rivoli Grand Theatre | Porto
23.04 - 24.04.24
Portugese Premiere
REMACHINE explores the interplay between humans and an inescapable hyper-mechanised environment. At the mercy of their own technology, the dancers navigate the unstable ground under their feet. The performance unravels as a chain of cause and effect. In a cascade of both worldly and otherworldly forces, a dance between constraint and liberty, labour and ritual, emerges as a contradictory state of contemporaneity. Via a powerful orchestration of both vocal and physical material, and in a new collaboration with composer Anna von Hausswolff, REMACHINE draws its viewer into a meditation on discipline, relentlessness, insatiability, and the power of the mind over the body.

[VOLTA] | Workshop
ANNA NOWICKA | Dancing dreams
“Dancing dreams”
In this research workshop, choreographer and dancer based in Berlin, Anna Nowicka, investigates how to instantly transform night dreams into choreographic situations, building a sense of community, intimacy, and openness. She will be exploring how to best create circumstances, in which participants can trustfully share their dreams, and reflect upon the deeper meaning of their night adventures. “Dancing dreams” is a format that is both choreographic and participatory, spectacular and educational, allowing for intimate connections and a sense of belonging.
If you are curious to live the latent potential of your dreams, these two sessions are for you. Bring a recent night dream, some colourful pens and papers, comfortable clothes to dance and curiosity about where this can take us. During the workshop the group will be embodying each other’s night journeys, responding to dreams’ necessities, and moving into the space of new possibility.

“A dark but magnificently liberating experience. [Unearth is] a sincere creation whose physical and vocal identity stands out from current artistic proposals.”
“Unearth is polyphonic, polyrhythmic and polysemous [...] The fascination is immediate. [...] Without fanfare or trumpet, without decor or artificial light - without bluff or bluster, Jefta van Dinther is in the tradition of a Philip Glass or a Meredith Monk. Which is no mean feat.”
“What is wonderfully beautiful about this is that such an undefinedly bleak and at the same time humanly profound experience - repetitively limited in time and physically and extending to Wagnerian proportions.”

MICHELLE MOURA | Life is an open mouth
12.02. MON | 10:00-12:30
14.02. WED | 10:00-12:30
16.02. FRI | 10:00 -12:30
In these VOLTA sessions Brazilian dancer and choreographer, Michelle Moura, will host a series of workshops based on her recent research into bodily and theoretical choreographic positions. "We are eating the world. How can we create a big collective mouth that eats and consumes in reciprocity with the earth?" The workshop will depart from such theoretical thinking, where participants will share, trial and explore choreographic dialogues that surround Moura's next creation "BOCA COVA (Grave Mouth)". Participants will work on the principles of symbiosis, reciprocity, regeneration. Actions of opening-closing, share and revolve, will guide us through different bodily and collective explorations. Participants can expect for consensual touch, facial hyper expressionism and some improvised mess.

Dark Field Analysis l Lausanne
Thursday 7 March 20:00
Friday 8 March 19:00
Les Printemps de Sévelin | Théâtre Sévelin 36
Dark Field Analysis calls upon the intensity of being alive by placing us humans in relation to other forms of life. In the performance, organic blends with synthetic, human with animal and material with ethereal.
A long conversation unfolds between two naked men on a carpet; the topic of blood running as a red thread throughout the performance.
Dark Field Analysis draws its name from a branch of alternative medicine that uses dark field microscopy to diagnose systemic bodily conditions originating in the blood. But the conversation between the two men encompasses more than medical facts. Here, blood serves as an analogy for looking inwards and outwards: Into and beyond our selves.

Jefta van Dinther | Choreography of attention
Diorama, Berlin
In the [VOLTA] sessions Jefta will share some of the most important and recurring movement practices from the last decade. These practices underlie many of his performances and act as a the container from which each individual work springs, and include organ-work, “kneeding” and “lynch”. The practices are improvisational in character but function through a flow of stratified instructions, generating a virtuosity of their own. They take their shape via a ‘choreography of attention’, incorporating perception, sensation, imagination, psychology and emotion alongside a more anatomical and physical approach.

Unearth | Oslo
Saturday 17 February
15:30 – 17:30
Kulturkirken Jakob, Oslo, NO
ICE HOT Festival - Nordic Dance Platform Oslo
„In Unearth the space between spectator and audience are essentially dissolved. Emotion spreads throughout the room, erasing the hierarchy and structures of audience, performer and narrative, where the work is lived through constellations of experiential happenings and reactions that unfold in slowed time. After 3 hours, and even though the cycle starts again, very few leave the audience who sprawl throughout the room. With “Unearth” Jefta van Dinther once again succeeds in portraying humans as alien beings and temporary guests on this earth.“

“[In REMACHINE] Jefta van Dinther deploys his sophisticated aesthetic to create a pressing, attention-grabbing image. He shows the powerlessness as well as the grandeur of people confronted with the inexorable course of the world.”
“[REMACHINE] aims to touch us, to make us feel what it is to be human in an unmerciful world, to stand up and go on in spite of everything. That sounds simple, but it requires a lot of attention and sustained intensity in the performance. That is rare.”

As we look back at the year that has been, we have had many cherished memories and accomplishments as a team. The team of 2023, some of whom I continue to work with for over a decade, produced and toured new work and brought to life our new studio Diorama in Berlin Rummelsburg - contributing to a lively and open platform which is quickly bringing together a new community that is generously contributing to our practice but also to emerging dialogues in dance and the arts at large.
We live through a powerful, tense and formative moment in time and we feel that the holding-of-space that is generated when we produce work for audiences, or host others within our structure are important ways to tease out the issues of yesterday, today and tomorrow.
We want to thank all who have contributed, participated and continue to produce in our orbit. We wish you a good send off of 2023 and look forward to seeing you all in 2024. ✨🎊

[NODE] | Open studio at DIORAMA
Jefta van Dinther and Louise Dahl present work in progress showing at Diorama, Berlin
21st of December at 5PM
Developed during recent research weeks at Diorama in Rummelsburg Berlin, Van Dinther and Dahl present an open studio preview event. A great opportunity for audiences to get up close with the current studio practice and research. The solo work is a playful installation lending to concepts of subversiveness, darkness, body-love and machine, which provides commentary on real world practices of experimentation, which we as humans might engage in to escape our own own reality.
The event is free and requires a registration. See the link in bio or visits HERE

[SITU] CO-WORKING
27.10 & 31.10
12:00 - 17:00
Diorama | Berlin
Studio Diorama opens up its doors as a co-working space on specific days throughout the year with [SITU] CO-WORKING. The studio turns into a shared work space, where we welcome individual practitioners (not groups) within the field of performing arts to coexist in the same space and work in parallel, under a basic set of guidelines. We wish to specifically promote the use of the studio space for movement and dance research, and other forms of inhabiting the studio space. In [SITU] CO-WORKING, the physical space, rather than the virtual space is in focus; work on computers is allowed but not the main point. We are especially curious about how artists can work on their own yet side by side, in an inspiring space, generating a collective aura of work-mode, concentration and respect for the others. There will be slots with music and slots in silence, and talking in the studio is kept to a minimum.

BIENNIALE 2023 de Charleroi Danse
"In Unearth, we slowly embark on a long journey that stretches and plays with the elasticity of time: links are woven and undone, emotions come to the surface and move across worried or ecstatic faces because, more than anything, this is a human epic. Little by little, the performers gradually weave the wires of an invisible network around us to the sound of polyphonic chants, whispered melodies and pop refrains that turn into shared maxims. Their inner worlds resound outside, their singularities take shape, their dances are guided by a search for contact, palpable presences and touch. It is an invitation to experience this moment like being in a gentle trance, an experiment that probes connections that go beyond us, drawing from the resources buried in each and every one of us."

7th of September at 6PM
Developed during the [LINK] mentorship with choreographic mentor Jefta van Dinther, Gregersen presents an open studio preview event. Drawing inspiration from the trickster —a character known for breaking norms and fluidly shifting shape — Gregersen playfully works with the disruption of conventions, infused with a touch of humor, tricks, and drama.

“In the new Unearth, Van Dinther is part of the cast of eight dancers who take the space of the W139 Gallery in the middle of the bustle of Amsterdam's red light district, and for four hours invites us to witness a ritual that touches on lament. The public is free to enter and leave whenever they wish during this long period of time, however, the work traps in such a way that it becomes difficult to get away from this world created with voices and bodies, coupled in such a way that is really hypnotizing.“

Unearth | Julidans Amsterdam @ Gallery W139 10th & 11th JUL
In Unearth, Jefta van Dinther brings together ten dancers in a bold and stripped-down choreography of body and voice. In his characteristic cross-disciplinary style, which catalogues his extensive repertoire on human behaviour and its linked ecologies, Van Dinther breaks down our impetus to feel anew — time and again.
The title Unearth refers to something not of this earth. With this title, Van Dinther highlights the central theme of his work in recent years: the technologisation of the world we live in. Which was meant to serve us, but instead has come to govern our lives. "Jefta van Dinther once again succeeds in portraying humans as aliens and temporary guests on this earth," a reviewer wrote following the premiere.

“With Unearth, van Dinther invites the audience to an introspective journey. Using only movement and voice, the four-hour dance event at W139 arts centre in the heart of Amsterdam offers one big, propulsive trance experience.
The dancers turn their bodies inside out and expose deep-rooted feelings about social kinship, life and mortality. Stripped of theatrical elements such as lighting, music and scenography, the performance stages the capacities and incapacities of human beings in their purest form.” - Julidans

On Earth I’m Done | Islands at tanzquartierwien in Vienna
23-25 MAR
In On Earth I’m Done: Islands, the audience is transported to a place torn out of the conventional space-time continuum. Orbiting the conflicts of beauty and danger, existence must be rebuilt from scratch and living learnt anew. Elementary logics and irregular intelligences are being reborn; life passes between mineral, vegetal, animal, human and machinic forms. Islands is a performance which imagines an alternate order of organization, a state of exception, quarantined from the natural world. Here, replication becomes a mode of survival and dancing a weapon.

Leah is a lover of movement in all of its glorious forms. Through her work as a dancer, she discovered yoga initially as an enhancement to her existing training. In many ways it has since become the basis of her approach to understanding and activating the body and the mind. She has fallen more in love with the practice the deeper she explores. Following a creative and flowing technique of Vinyasa yoga, there is a focus on safe and optimal alignment, exploring sensation, and bringing awareness to the body's infinite possibilities.

On Earth I’m Done | Mountains & Islands by Cullberg
17-18.02 at Teatro Canal, Sevilla Spain
‚In On Earth I’m Done, the audience is transported to a place where all sense of space and time has vanished: a creation story and a post-apocalyptic search for humanity. Swedish-Dutch choreographer Jefta van Dinther creates hallucinatory performances in extremely tight design and an ultra-physical, energetic dance style... On Earth I’m Done is an „archaic-futuristic“ diptych that consists of the solo Mountains and Islands, a group work for thirteen dancers, made for and by the Swedish company Cullberg to which Van Dinther has been connected as an artist since 2013. Mountains and Islands are both geographical references, the performances leading the viewer through landscapes full of dark, hallucinatory images in a conceptual performance about transformation.‘

On Earth I'm Done | Mountains by Cullberg | Tomorrow at Zodiak, Helsinki
In Mountains, Van Dinther tackles the question of how to be and stay in love with our ever-changing world. Through an expulsion of words, both familiar and foreign, the performer on stage acts as a conduit, lamenting on behalf of others. Their being unravels in the nexus between the physical, biological and anthropological – between gravitational forces, instinct and desire.
"Mountains is relentless in its form. Without depicting anything concrete tangible, the work listens to urges, longings, fears and suspicions that vibrate beneath the surface of homo sapiens - our fragile relationship with a world that constantly risks slipping out of our hands. It is a journey into the unknown interior - in search of a (spiritual) core - that stuns, captures and fascinates." – Svenska Dagbladet
In Helsinki the work is performed by dancer Marco da Silva Ferreira.

[LINK] mentorship in Costume Design | Lena Böckmann
Jefta van Dinther is pleased to announce the recipient of this year’s [LINK] mentorship in Costume Design as Lena Böckmann. Lena will be under supervision of the mentor and costume designer Cristina Nyffeler, dramaturg Maja Zimmermann and choreographer Jefta van Dinther.
Lena Böckmann is a costume designer and performer, working mainly within performing arts with a distinct focus in robotics. Coming from practical backgrounds of costume design and physical computing, her work is a playful hybrid of these two worlds. Her practice sees experiments between costume, e-textiles, wearable objects and robot scenography, allowing her to dive deeper into the digital arts and object centered theatre. She investigates these approaches sensually, via touching, hearing, feeling, smelling, thinking, crafting, dreaming and discourse; such themes that are inherently human and centric to her research in sci-fi, feel-fi and touch-fi.

Leonce und Lena | Directed by Ulrich Rasche
Premiere at Deutsches Theatre Berlin
In connection with Büchner's pamphlet Der Hessische Landbote (The Hessian Courierr) and in a first-time collaboration with choreographer Jefta van Dinther, director Ulrich Rasche examines the comedy Leonce und Lena (1836) for its political content: as a fundamental social analysis and radical critique of the self-reference and ignorance of the ruling class. While she holds all the levers in her hand to change social conditions in favour of the exploited, she excuses her inaction with the hopelessness of personal action, the impossibility of influencing the world and the fundamental lostness in the universe.

In the voice training of Johanna Peine, we focus on the voice and its development. During evolution, the vocal organ has gone through vast changes. The evolution of the voice was always associated with new patterns of movement. Here we look to sharpen this understanding to better connect the voice, body, breath, movement and artistic purpose.

On Earth I’m Done: Islands | Performance at Teater Kungsbacka, Sweden
In On Earth I’m Done: Islands, the audience is transported to a place torn out of the conventional space-time continuum. Orbiting the conflicts of beauty and danger, existence must be rebuilt from scratch and living learnt anew. Elementary logics and irregular intelligences are being reborn; life passes between mineral, vegetal, animal, human and machinic forms. Islands is a performance which imagines an alternate order of organization, a state of exception, quarantined from the natural world. Here, replication becomes a mode of survival and dancing a weapon.

On Earth I’m Done: Islands | Performance at Dansstationen Malmö, Sweden
“Some dance pieces have such an impact that they bring about a collective ecstasy in the audience. The Swedish-Dutch Jefta van Dinther does this with his work like no other.
The darling of the European dance podiums‘ allows light, space, sound and the dancers‘ bodies to flow together into what one reviewer once famously called a composition of experiential structures.‘ Van Dinther’s choreographies are ultra-physical, beautifully portrayed, and downright overwhelming.“

#MuseumAsPerformance

[NODE] | Open studio at DIORAMA
Jefta van Dinther presents a work-in-progress event.
3rd of June at 17.00
Diorama
Hauptstraße 13, 10317 Berlin
DOOR F (near the bolder gym), 4th floor
Premiering in August 2024, Van Dinther hosts an open studio previewing elements of the new work AUSLAND at Studio Diorama in Berlin. The [NODE] format grants the artistic community, as well as other audiences, an opportunity to gain insight into the creative process of upcoming work and the possibility to engage in a feedback around the work.
“Where do we draw the line between experimentation and transgression? And what limits are we prepared to violate for our personal freedom, especially when the world as we know it can be difficult to trust. AUSLAND examines our urge and search for alternate realities, in a performance where human and non-human players are toying with themes intrinsic to our times.”
AUSLAND will premiere during Tanz im August 2024. Departing from Van Dinther’s previous works, which tackle themes such as kinship, mortality and spirituality, AUSLAND plunges further into the dichotomies of fantasy; exposing how play can turn serious at any moment. AUSLAND depicts distinct yet interwoven microcosms characterised by self-destruction, voyeurism, and subversion, where emotional resilience and mental and moral clarity are challenged.

Dark Field Analysis l DDD Festival

DDD Festival X Serralves Museu | Porto, PT
Tickets are now on sale! Link in Bio

Dance Plaza / WestKowloon, Hong Kong
2023.09.16-17
Dark Field Analysis draws its name from a branch of alternative medicine that uses dark field microscopy to diagnose systemic bodily conditions originating in the blood. But the conversation between the two men encompasses more than medical facts. Here, blood serves as an analogy for looking inwards and outwards: Into and beyond ourselves. [NODE] | Open studio at DIORAMA
Emilie Gregersen presents work in progress showing at DIORAMA, Berlin
7th of September at 6PM
Developed during the [LINK] mentorship with choreographic mentor Jefta van Dinther, Gregersen presents an open studio preview event. Drawing inspiration from the trickster —a character known for breaking norms and fluidly shifting shape — Gregersen playfully works with the disruption of conventions, infused with a touch of humor, tricks, and drama. The boundaries between the personal and the fictional, the intimate and the artificial, seamlessly merge, creating a space filled with tension and suspense.
The event is free and no need to register.

REMACHINE | Opening tonight!
01.–02.09.
19:00 | Norrlandsoperan, Umeå, Sweden
Tickets available via @norrlandsoperan
“In life, we often feel as if we are both autonomous beings making choices and cogs in a system, governed by greater worldly forces. Remachine stages this inner friction, a space of limbo.” - Jefta van Dinther

REMACHINE | Premiere
01.–02.09.
19:00 | Norrlandsoperan, Umeå, Sweden
Tickets available via @norrlandsoperan
Remachine explores the interplay between humans and an inescapable hyper-mechanised environment.
At the mercy of their own technology, the dancers navigate the unstable ground under their feet.
The performance unravels as a chain of cause and effect. In a cascade of both worldly and otherworldly forces, a dance between constraint and liberty, labour and ritual, emerges as a contradictory state of contemporaneity.

In a powerful orchestration of both vocal and physical material Remachine draws its viewer into a meditation on discipline, relentlessness, insatiability, and the power of the mind over the body.

[SITU] RESIDENCY | Stina Ehn
We are pleased to announce that Stina Ehn will be taking part in a residency at Diorama in Berlin in coordination with dans centrum stockholm.
Stina Ehn is a dancer and choreographer based in Stockholm. Her work is based on experimental methods where making and analysing inform each other. The two week studio residency will support her work and research which explores the relations and problems between image and materiality by experimenting with dances that scratches, mimic or surrender to its surrounding.

Unearth | Munich
W/ joint_adventures_
“In the new Unearth, Van Dinther is part of the cast of eight dancers who take the space of the W139 Gallery in the middle of the bustle of Amsterdam's red light district, and for four hours invites us to witness a ritual that touches on lament. The public is free to enter and leave whenever they wish during this long period of time, however, the work traps in such a way that it becomes difficult to get away from this world created with voices and bodies, coupled in such a way that is really hypnotizing.“

Unearth | Munich @ freiheitshalle 5th & 6th AUG
Thank you @julidans_amsterdam! Next stop München for #tanzwerkstatteuropa @joint_adventures_

Unearth | Julidans Amsterdam @ Gallery W139 10th & 11th JUL

Hosted by @leaaaahkatz teaching Vinyasa Yoga. More information on how you can join us for these classes in bio.
